{"id":812,"date":"2026-06-07T09:57:55","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T06:57:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tbpeople.cwebdev.com\/?p=812"},"modified":"2026-06-07T09:57:55","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T06:57:55","slug":"communities-speak-out-at-the-union-world-conference-on-lung-health-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tbpeople.cwebdev.com\/ru\/communities-speak-out-at-the-union-world-conference-on-lung-health-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Communities Speak Out at the Union World Conference on Lung Health 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today we share what was voiced from the stage of the <\/span><b>Union World Conference on Lung Health 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 the voice of a community that lives with TB, fights for others, and refuses to let the world look away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the Opening Ceremony, TB survivors, people affected by TB, and civil society organizations from every region \u2014 Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe \u2014 stood together to speak the truth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The truth about what is happening right now:<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People are dying, losing income, facing treatment alone, and unable to access support due to global financial cuts.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>When funding disappears \u2014 so do lives.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We honored with a minute of silence everyone we have lost \u2014 and everyone still fighting. We stood shoulder to shoulder, including in solidarity with countries that could not be present because of conflict, budget cuts, or crisis. The empty spaces on that stage were not symbols. They were people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our collective statement to the world was clear:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When communities are silenced \u2014 TB wins.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most vulnerable always pay the highest price.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than half of children with TB remain undiagnosed and miss out on lifesaving treatment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stigma and discrimination continue to destroy lives.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social support \u2014 food, transport, even small assistance \u2014 saves lives.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No vaccine or test can work without systems that trust people and include them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funding cuts are not technical decisions. They are political decisions \u2014 and they cost lives.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We said:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83d\udc49 The world is stepping away from the values of solidarity exactly when they are needed the most.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83d\udc49 Global challenges require global responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If we truly want to end the TB epidemic, we need <\/span><b>investments in communities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 the first responders, the last-mile workers, the people who hold this response together every single day. Those who cannot afford to lose hope.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the end, we repeated the words that have become our collective symbol:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>\u201cIt\u2019s now or never \u2014 if you are with us, stand up and show you care.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This was not just a statement. It was a moment when our shared truth echoed across the world.
